Palos Verdes homeowners have great presentations in the October 2025 Peninsula Seniors Bohannon Lectures Series. These Lectures take place at Scriba Family Center located at 602 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates, with in-person lectures beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the following Wednesdays:
October 8 – “Saving the Palos Verdes Blue Butterfly” will be presented by Moorpark College biology professor Jana Johnson who will be discussing how she helped save one of the world’s rarest creatures from extinction.
October 15 – “The Healing Power of Paws” will be presented by Lynn Attig of Love on Paws who brings her therapy dog and discusses the benefits of animal assisted therapy for those in need of companionship and assistance.
October 22 – “My Two Weeks in Uzbekistan“will have our local historian Jim Shneer discussing five cities he visited, exploring the culture, geography, history, art, religion and music.
October 29 – “Halloween Music Special” will be presented by members Ann and Lee Strong who will share several pieces of music written for or about Halloween, featuring creepy music from the 17th through the 20th century.
On Saturday, October 4, 2025, Coffee & Cars will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the top parking deck of the Promenade Mall. On the first Saturday of every month, a group of car enthusiasts bring their Hot Rod, Custom, Muscle Car, Sports Car, Antique, and other special interest vehicles to this location where you can admire the cars, meet the owners and ask them questions. To reach the top parking deck, enter from Indian Peak Road at the Peninsula Shopping Center off Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Boulevard in Rolling Hills Estates.
