Point Fermin Lighthouse, located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, was built in 1874 and is one of the oldest lighthouses on the West Coast. It is open Tuesday through Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and closed on Mondays.

Palos Verdes South Coast Botanic Garden will introduce their new Family Fun Day on August 3, 2014, from 1:00 to 5:00p.m., featuring special musical guests and lots of hands on activities.

Palos Verdes Estates' residents are encouraged to join their area Neighborhood Watch Association celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The Hills Are Alive - 10K and 5K race and a 5K walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Ernie Howlett Park in Rolling Hills Estates and benefits the Pepper Tree Foundation.

Palos Verdes Estates residents have many recreational facilities to enjoy right here on the Peninsula. They are the Palos Verdes Golf Club, Palos Verdes Tennis Club and Palos Verdes Beach & Athletic Club.

Shakespearre by the Sea will be presenting "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Hamlet" during the month of July at three different locations.

South Coast Botanic Garden will be offering their summer concerts in the upper meadows on Sundays, July 13, July 27, August 24 & on Monday, September 1, 2014.

Summer Concerts In The Park 2014 Malaga Cove series begins July 9 and continues every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. through August 27, 2014, and will include Bad Haggis, Andy & Renee, Jim Sitterly Trio, Sgt Pepper, Sam & Brenda, Mighty Mo Rodgers, Cody Bryant & Eaglessquad.

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy offers Palos Verdes hikes and many other opportunities during the month of July 2014 - hiking, bird watching, nocturnal events and more.

Fourth of July fireworks can be seen from Palos Verdes and other South Bay locations. There will be fireworks at 9:00 p.m. off Torrance Beach, Redondo Beach's Seaside Lagoon and San Pedro's Cabrillo Beach.
