Palos Verdes whale watching and other marine events will be part of Whale Of A Day at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos Verdes on Saturday, March 3, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cherry Blossom in Palos Verdes can be seen at the South Coast Botanic Garden. I am told they are just starting to bloom but best to call the Garden at 310-544-1948 to check their progress. Cherry Blossom Picnic Day will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012, from 9-5.

Palos Verdes Beach and Athletic Club in Palos Verdes Estates is offering their Junior Lifeguard Conditioning and Dolphin Camp Training with signups for non members city residents to begin February 27, 2012.

Palos Verdes tide pool walk will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at Abalone Cove Shoreline Park in Rancho Palos Verdes 90275. Parking will be free from 11:45 to 3:00.

Palos Verdes Hikes and Trails this Saturday, February 11, 2012, include the White Point Nature Hike and the Cabrillo Beach Nature Walk. Sunday, February 12, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium will be hosting a new Salt Marsh open house where children may use binoculars (and microscopes) to view the animal and bird life.

Whole Foods Market in Torrance will donate 5% of all net sales on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, to the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy.

Palos Verdes Peninsula Seniors will sponsor their February Lecture Series on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Hesse Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. Topic discussed will include the history of Palos Verdes, new development plans at the Port of Los Angeles, the Community Helpline and the Japanese-American volunteer unit during WWII.

Whale watching off the Palos Verdes coast is in full gear with 559 whales spotted to date this season. Point Vicente Interpretive Center is an excellent spot to view the whales from the land and two local companies have boat excursions for closer look.

There will be 2 nature walks this Saturday, February 4th at George F Canyon Preserve & Nature Center in Rolling Hills Estates. The Bird Walk will take place from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and the First Saturday Walk through the canyon will take place from 1:00 to 3:00.

Coffee & Cars is held the first Saturday of every month in the Peninsula Shopping Center parking lot near Starbucks Coffee and Rite Aid. Peninsula Shopping Center is located at the intersection of Hawthorne Boulevard and Silver Spur Road in Rolling Hills Estates.
