If you are looking for a fun outing this weekend for the whole family, stop by the Point Vincente Interpretive Center and enjoy “Whale Of A Day” activities. This is a popular annual event for Palos Verdes homes owners and their neighbors throughout the South Bay. The festival celebrates the migration of the Pacific Gray Whale from its summer feeding grounds in the Bering and Chuchki Seas in Alaska to its calving grounds in Baja, California.
Whale Of A Day this Saturday, March 5th, will include whale watching from the shore, museum tours, Point Vicente Lighthouse tours (ages 7 and older and 44″+ tall) exhibits, and much more from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The children will enjoy crafts, games, fun zone and face painting all at no charge. The arts & crafts will be marine-themed as well as the art exhibits and vendors. And there will be live entertainment which includes music and animals. If you find yourself a little hungry, there will be multiple food booths to buy treats throughout the day.
There is free parking and even a shuttle to drive you to and from the event. Just park at the Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall at 30940 Hawthorne Blvd, Rancho Palos Verdes. For more information call (310) 544-5260 or go to www.whaleofaday.com.
