On Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., the South Coast Cactus & Succulent Society will be at our own local South Coast Botanic Gardens with their speaker Wendell S. “Woody” Minnich from New Mexico. Woody is here to present landscaping from the Great American Southwest which should be an interesting program with Woody sharing over forty years of fieldwork from one of the most picturesque regions of the world. He will be showing photography of different plants that have been able to adopt to the desert environment and discuss those that we have in our area.
The South Coast Cactus & Succulent Society’s main function is to promote the education and study of the propagation of succulents and cacti. Palos Verdes homes owners have discovered the popularity of adding succulents to their garden, and this educational program will introduce some new native plants. The use of succulents has exploded across the country and particularly in Southern California.
The South Coast Botanic Garden is located at 26300 Crenshaw Boulevard, Palos Verdes Peninsula.
