Peninsula Seniors Bohannon Lecture Series March 2023

Palos Verdes homeowners have great presentations in the September 2026 Peninsula Seniors Bohannon Lectures Series.  These Lectures take place at Scriba Family Center located at 602 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates, with in-person lectures beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the following Wednesdays:

September 2 – “Is your Plate Heart-Healthy?” will be presented by Ransford Mollison who is a Medicare professional that educates seniors about Medicare , healthy living, and understanding health care choices. He will discuss heart-healthy eating to lower the risk of heart disease.

September 9 – “Experiences in Southeast Asia” will be presented by Sandy Swafford telling of his background growing up in the Philippines, military experiences in Southeast Asia with the Navy, and some missions of the Battleship Iowa in World War II.

September 16 – “Gardening for Wildlife: How Native Plants Support Our Local Ecosystem” will be presented by Sachy Huerta, Communication and Outreach Coordinator for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy, who will discuss how California native plants can transform your yard into a water-wise garden that helps wildlife and pollinators.

September 23 – “Malaga Bank’s Financial Crimes & Education Workshop” will be presented by Kryzla Serrano, AVP Security, Malaga Bank, who returns with updates on protecting the public against rising financial crimes, identity thefts, scams, and cybersecurity.

September 30 – “Point Fermin Through the Years” will be presented by George Higgins, docent and historian for Point Fermin, bringing the history of Rancho San Pedro, the territorial expansion of the U.S., development of the Point Fermin area, and subsequent construction of the Port of San Pedro from Pearl Harbor to the presesnt.

On Saturday, September 5, 2026, Coffee & Cars will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the top parking deck of the Promenade Mall. On the first Saturday of every month, a group of car enthusiasts bring their Hot Rod, Custom, Muscle Car, Sports Car, Antique, and other special interest vehicles to this location where you can admire the cars, meet the owners and ask them questions. To reach the top parking deck, enter from Indian Peak Road at the Peninsula Shopping Center off Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Boulevard in Rolling Hills Estates.
