On September 21, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00p.m., you can bring your family and join in the International Coastal Cleanup Day at Abalone Cove Shoreline Park. The event is being sponsored by Los Serenos de Point Vicente and is a great time for Palos Verdes homes owners to help the environment by cleaning up the coastline which surrounds our beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula. This event is held world wide and is a reminder that national disasters, even on the other side of the world, sometimes take years to bring debris and residue to our own local coastlines. This is just one way we can keep our environment clean for not only our own families but for generations to come.
Abalone Cove Shoreline Park is located in Rancho Palos Verdes and has two beaches Abalone Cove and Sacred Cove. There are tidepools, a State Ecological Reserve and about 5 miles of trails. There is a foot path from the picnic area on top of the bluff near the parking lot, leading down to the beach. This is considered to be a moderate trail, and the volunteers will have gloves and bags available for you. There will also be refreshments served. Parking will be free the day of the event.
Abalone Cove Shoreline Park is located at 5970 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes 90275. For more information visit www.losserenos.org.
