Enjoy the Palos Verdes Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk

The Palos Verdes Half Marathon and Community 5K, will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013.  It will start and finish at Pelican Cove adjacent to the  Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes.  This is the second time in 46 years of staging the marathon in Palos Verdes that there will only be a half marathon offered.  This event includes a beer garden, a giant expo, live music and food.

The course will follow our beautiful coastline through the communities of Rancho Palos Verdes and Palos Verdes Estates – along Lunada Bay, Bluff Cove and Abalone Cove just to name a few locations.  With one of the most scenic vistas of rolling hills and coastline views, this run attracts thousand of runners and spectators from all over the world.

The half marathon and half marathon team challenge will start at 7:00 a.m.  The 5K run will start at 7:30 a.m. along with the 5K school challenge.  All of these starts will be at Pelican Cove (photo below) adjacent to Terranea Resort located at 6610 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes.

The cost for runners for the school challenge is $20 if under 18, and they must be registered by November 1.  Palos Verdes Half Marathon Special Team Challenge  is $80, Palos Verdes Half Marathon individual runners $85, and community 5K run/walk is $35.  This year, however, they are offering special discount prices based on the number of carpool buddies that you bring.  Go to the website www.palosverdeshalfmarathon.org for discount prices and to register your carpool.  Packet pick up location is Friday, November 15, at Road Runner Sports located at 25359 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrance.  You can also pick up your packet on Saturday morning at the event site at Pelican Cove beginning at 5:30 a.m.  This year you will be able to have someone else pick up your packet for you.

Parking is at Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall and the Salvation Army College at 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard.  There will be shuttle buses providing easy and quick access to the event site.  Shuttles start at 5 am and run until 8:30 a.m.  Carpooling is encouraged as the lots fill up.
