Palos Verdes homes owners (and/or tenants) who will have children entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2014, should plan to attend the Kindergarten Roundup Information Program even if you have had other children go through the system because the program has changed. This is an important event if you have Kindergarten age children because some Palos Verdes elementary schools are impacted. California Law (SB 1381) relating to the age requirement for Kindergarten enrollment was changed. The new law requires a child be five years old on or before September 1, 2014, to be eligible for kindergarten. Children must be five years old on or before December 2, 2014, to enroll in Transitional Kindergarten which is a separate program. All interested parents are encouraged to attend one of the scheduled Kindergarten Orientation meetings and learn more about this change, the application process, kindergarten readiness, standards, transitional kindergarten and the application deadline.
