Palos Verdes Art Center “Behind the Gates” Homes Tour of Rolling Hills
The Palos Verdes Art Center is proud to present “The Circle 2015 Historic Homes Tour” on Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This tour features three beautiful homes located behind the gates of Rolling Hills. “Behind the Gates,” brings you to a world of beauty and stunning panoramic vistas abounds. The homes presented range from a historic equestrian retreat to a totally re-visioned 1950’s entertainment paradise. The owners are just as diverse, including an Academy Award winner and classic car collector.
Quintessential Rolling Hills is the newest home pictured above, built in 1994 and is the largest with 7,400 square feet. This home is the epitome of the Rolling Hills ranch. Accented with red brick and topped with shake roof, this four bedroom, six bath white wood house is sited to take full advantage of its canyon and harbor views, while providing outdoor privacy and open, airy indoor spaces.
An Entertainer’s Paradise is located down a 500 ft. private drive and sits on a 5,000 + square foot entertainer’s dream – a warm inviting home that easily holds hundreds of guests. Originally built in the 1950’s, the home combines a traditional aesthetic with an open floor plan unusual in a non mid century modern house of that era. The house has a stunning view of Catalina Island and is full of many luxurious details, from its home furnishings to Italian limestone floors. Outside are two large terraces each with its own outdoor kitchen. There is also a three car garage, with a stunning gallery of automotive art, remodeled into a showplace for the owners’ classic automobiles.
Historic Equestrian Retreat is, from the three-rail white fence to the two story, four stall barn to the simple 1938 board-and-batten house (one of the first built in this gated community), classic Rolling Hills – a casual, rural enclave in the vast urban sprawl of Los Angeles. Horses have called this address home continuously since the 1940’s. The modest entry gets you ready for the breathtaking view, antiques, travel memorabilia, art, custom decor and a gleaming golden Oscar. Yet the 4000 + square foot home exudes a cozy comfortable atmosphere, ideal for both daily family living and large scale entertaining.
