Palos Verdes Peninsula’s Fourth of July Celebrations!
Palos Verdes Peninsula’s Fourth of July Celebrations 2015 gives Palos Verdes homes owners two different kind of festivities to enjoy during the daylight hours. One will take place at Malaga Cove School and the other at Point Vicente Park Community Center – each one giving residents a full day of fun.
Palos Verdes Estates homes owners will be holding their 54th Annual Independence Day Celebration at Malaga Cove School. The celebration is an annual community tradition where volunteers work together to provide a day of family fun and renew a sense of appreciation for our independence and freedom. This year’s Kenneth T. Norris Heritage of Freedom Award recipient is Cliff Meidl, a two time Olympian. The Van Dine Family Americanism Award Winner is Carol Murin, a retired Palos Verdes teacher who also received Educator of the Year in 2007 from the PVPHS PTA. The Van Dine award is given each year to a Palos Verdes resident who has contributed in a special way to the quality of life in America. Carol has been a resident of Palos Verdes for the last 40 years and been active in numerous community and charitable organizations such as PV Juniors, Las Madrecitas, Las Ninas, Los Hermanos, Art at Your Fingertips and co-president of Harbor Interfaith Services. The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Apple Pie Entries being accepted for judging. Face Painting will also be offered to get children ready for the big Children’s Patriotic Bicycle Parade which starts at 10:10 a.m. At 10:15 Jim Gamble will once again entertain with his All American Puppet Show; and at 10:30 a.m., the formal program and award presentations will begin. After the dedication ceremonies, (and beginning around noon) there will be picnics, family games and patriotic music.
