What’s New At Palos Verdes Libraries!
Palos Verdes home owners know that summer is a great time for their children to relax and simply read a story (and put down the electronics). All of our local libraries have been participating in the Summer Reading Program for years and school age children love the weekly events that each of the branches offers during the month. These activities feature music, magic and cool crafts. It’s not too late to join and this program continues until August 23, 2015.
Movies at Malaga Cove Library offer a classic setting on the Peninsula with Hollywood masterpieces being shown. The presentations are free and the library will provide snacks and light refreshments. The next show will be offered on August 8, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., and parking is available in the library parking lot on Via Pinale.
Passport photos can now be taken at the Miraleste Library. To make an appointment at the Miraleste Library, call (310) 377-9584 x 452. Their passport hours are Monday – Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Miraleste Library is located at 29089 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rancho Palos Verdes.
Early Literacy iPads are now being offered at the Peninsula Center Library which has 3 new Early Literacy iPads for their youngest patrons to experience. Each iPad has 36 apps which teach letter recognition & sounds and numbers & counting. The Don’t Let The Pigeon Run app fosters narrative skills and creative thinking. Another fun apps is, A Very Jazzy Day, which is about music, musical instruments and jazz. This app is great for children under the age of 5 and is available in several languages.
Also, Flipster is now available for iPad and iPad mini users through the Library. This is a great way to read assorted magazine titles on your iPad. To find out how to set up your iPad, go to www.pvld.org and click on Flipster. A step by step information tab will help you.
