Palos Verdes homes owners have a great opportunity to celebrate Earth Day at several different locations here on the Peninsula.
The Promenade on the Peninsula will be having their Earth Day Celebration on Thursday, April 20, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. At this celebration there will be several exhibits including Water Conservation, Reptacular Animals, Stormwater Run-off Demo, Palos Verdes Land Conservancy, South Bay Wildlife Rehab and more. There will also be a family activity center with colorful themed activities and a scavenger hunt with prizes. Free Paper Shredding will be available in the parking lot outside of El Pollo Inca.
The Promenade on the Peninsula is located at 550 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates.
Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy’s celebration will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the White Point Nature Preserve. We have been celebrating Earth Day on April 22 in this country since 1970. The first Earth Day led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water and Endangered Species Act.
At White Point Nature Preserve from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., families can enjoy this years Palos Verdes Earth Day celebration. From 9:00 to 12:00 noon, you can volunteer in the demonstration garden around the White Point Nature Education Center. At 10:00 a.m. the LA City Rangers will lead a family friendly nature hike to explore trails with native coastal habitat, blooming wildflowers and wildlife. Family activities, crafts, a discovery table with games will be just part of the fun to participate in all day. From 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., areas will be set up so that you can learn more about volunteering in the native plant garden or at the Nature Education Center.
Volunteers can enjoy refreshments and snacks that will be provided. The Conservancy’s outdoor volunteer days are sponsored by REI Inc., Wild birds Unlimited, and the Harbor Community Benefit Foundation.
