Peninsula Seniors Lecture Series & Coffee and Cars March 2018
Palos Verdes homes owners have a wonderful opportunity to hear interesting topics at the March 2018 Peninsula Seniors Lectures Series. These Lectures take place at Hesse Park located at 29301 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes, in the Fireside Room on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
March 7, 2018 – Chuck Spurgeon, Professor Emeritus at Marymount California University, will be presenting Moments of Being, Points of Time and the Uses of Memory. Chuck will explore some of his favorite poetry that describes, defines and tries to explain “What’s it all about?” He is described as a literary and religious pilgrim, and is currently teaching British literature at Marymount.
March 14, 2018 – Gene Dotson will be presenting Surveyor-Apollo-Viking, an overview of three 1960s and 1970s NASA programs that sent imaging spacecraft to Mars, and spacecraft and a man to the Moon. Gene worked as a designer of the Terminal Descent Landing System for the Surveyor and Apollo program and as a Program Manager for the Landing System of the Viking program.
March 21, 2018 – Dr. Lew Holzman will be giving his lecture on “Do you know our National Parks?” When he was younger he owned his own plane, and in 1979 he flew to Denali National Park in Alaska for a vacation. He enjoyed it so much that he decided to visit 7 national parks that were designated by President Carter in 1980. He will be sharing his photographs and stories.
March 28, 2018 – Terri Haack currently president of Terranea Resort, will discuss the past, present and projections for Terranea. She has a distinguished career of more than 30 years in hotel and resort operations management. While under her leadership, the hotel has been awarded a top Destination Hotels property, renowned for its beauty, cuisine and guest services.
On Saturday, March 3, 2018, the Peninsula Seniors will sponsor Coffee & Cars at the Peninsula Shopping Center (off Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Boulevard in Rolling Hills Estates). At 7:30 a.m., a group of car enthusiasts will bring their Hot Rod, Custom, Muscle Car, Sports Car, Antique, and other special interest vehicles, to the Peninsula Shopping Center parking lot where you can admire the cars, meet the owners and ask them questions.
