Palos Verdes homes owners have plenty of fun events taking place this month through the end of October right here in “their own back yards.” Cabrillo Marine Aquarium will be having their Salt Marsh Open House on Saturday, September 29, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You can join the CMA educators to learn about the Salinas de San Pedro wetlands habitat at Cabrillo Beach by using binoculars and microscope to observe live animals. You will also be able to view the birds of the marsh, learn about the native plants and observe the changes in the tides. This event is free and open to all ages.
On Tuesdays, beginning October 2, 2018 through Tuesday, October 16, 2018, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Whalewatch Naturalist Training will be offered where volunteers (college age and up) are trained as naturalists to narrate whale watching trips on boats that depart from landings December 26, 2018, through April 2019, for observation of gray whales, dolphins, sea lions and birds. Naturalists also will be giving presentations in classrooms. Meet at the John M. Olguin Auditorium. Training begins on October, 2, 2018, and the last day to join the program is October 16, 2018. No reservations are required. For more information call (310) 548-7562.
