Palos Verdes Estates Annual 2019 Hazardous & E Waste Collection

Palos Verdes Estates Annual 2019 Hazardous & E Waste Collection

The City of Palos Verdes Estates will be holding its First Quarter Hazardous and E-Waste Collection Event in partnership with waste hauler, Athens Services.  This is a great time to rid yourselves of all the hazardous waste items that collect around your home.  This includes paint, solvents, pesticides, car and household batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, pool chemicals, cleaners, oil and other hazardous materials.

Electronic waste (E-waste) is said to be the most rapidly growing segment of the municipal waste stream. E-waste is a general category of electronic products which include broken or obsolete televisions, computer monitors, central processing units (CPU), cordless and cell phones, cash registers, videocassette recorders, cell phones, copiers and printers, stereos and speakers and microwaves. These type of products may contain toxic materials such as lead, barium, mercury, and cadmium that require the proper management as well as valuable resources that should be recovered.

Palos Verdes Estates residents (please bring proof of residency) can bring all of these articles to the Palos Verdes High School parking lot on Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  The school is located at 600 Cloyden Road, Palos Verdes Estates.  It is important to note that the City will no longer allow residents to drop off e-waste in front of City Hall because of safety concerns.

Additionally throughout the year, the S.A.F.E. Collection site (household hazardous waste) is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 1400 N. Gaffey Street, San Pedro.

For more information, please contact City Hall at (310) 378-0383 or Athens Services at (888) 336-6100.
