Palos Verdes Art Center 2019 Homes Tour
The Palos Verdes Art Center will be presenting its 33rd Annual Homes Tour, Legends of Art, Architecture & Song, on Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Tour will feature two homes that have a unique mix of designs from a Contemplative Contemporary that cohesively unifies indoor and outdoor space while remaining true to its midcentury modern roots, to a Palos Verdes Palladian influenced by Andrea Palladio’s classical design. There will also be live performances from Trio Ellas to enjoy at the Art Center.
Palos Verdes Palladian (above) features Andrea Palladio’s style of symmetry prespective design of Greek & Roman temples. Local architect George Sweeney used this architectural style while designing this home which is built of large rectangular stone blocks, with a Roman portico and supported by Corinthian columns.
Contemplative Contemporary (above) is a 1950’s contemporary home that cohesively unifies indoor and outdoor space while remaining true to its mid century modern roots. While form and balance are everything in this uncluttered space, it allows the eye to fall on the art pieces primarily of Hispanic origin each precisely placed. The Japanese inspired sculpture garden creates a peaceful niche for relaxing.
Trio Ellas (above) will be adding their world class level of musical proficiency to the day. While their mariachi roots play into their melting pot of musical genres, this trio consisting of Suemy Gonzales, Nelly Cortez and Stephanie Amaro will bring music ranging from electronica to mariachi.
The tour starts at the Palos Verdes Art Center where you will board your bus 10 minutes before the specified tour time. The morning tour times are 9:00, 9:30 & 10:00 a.m. and the afternoon bus tour times are 12:10, 12:40 & 1:10 p.m. Complimentary valet parking is available at the Art Center where you will also enjoy a gourmet lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will also be a raffle and you can shop collectibles, designer boutiques, and original local art. Also Trio Ellas will have live performances at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
