Palos Verdes Performing Arts Launches 37th Season!
Palos Verdes homes owners are looking forward to the new 2019-2020 season of the Palos Verdes Performing Arts series. This is the 37th year that Palos Verdes Performing Arts will be presenting world class, professional entertainment at the Norris Theatre. They will be featuring top name entertainment with musicians and theater entertainers. Below are just a few of the special performances in the 2019-2020 series:
Opening the 2019-2020 season on Saturday, September 14, 2019, will be the return of three time Emmy Award winners, The Texas Tenors. Playing music from Puccini to Bruno Mars, The Texas Tenors will be performing an extensive repertoire of Broadway, classical, pop and country music with a 30 piece orchestra. This well known musical act was introduced to the world on “America’s Got Talent,” and have gone on to release four studio albums, and their recent albums “Rise” and “A Collection of Broadway and American Classics” both debuted at #1 on the Billboard Classical Chart.
The Produced Series kicks off on September 27 to 29, 2019, with a concert presentation of “Evita” featuring a full orchestra and cast singing the brilliant score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Then on January 24 to 26, 2020, the pinball wizards will unite at “Tommy” a rock opera concert which was created by the legendary British rock band, The Who. The series will close with a fully staged production of the Tony award winning musical masterpiece, “West Side Story” on April 24 to May 10, 2020.
The Presents Series known for bringing an exciting spectrum of quality entertainment to the Norris Theatre, will make sure this season is no exception. “Heart By Heart,” which features founding Heart members Steve Fossen and Mike Derosier, will perform (while on their national tour) on October 18, 2019, followed by the Modern Gentlemen, singing holiday favorites and more with a pop rock flair on December 8, 2019. Additional highlights in 2020 will include: “Make Believe: The Magic of the Mind” with internationally acclaimed mentalist, magician, and hypnotist, Spidey, on January 11, 2020. DSB will be performing their Tribute to Journey on February 29,2020. “Tribute to Benny Goodman at Carnegie Hall” will be performed on March 15, 2020, and “Night Fever – The Bee Gees Tribute” will be presented on March 28, 2020. “Aureum – An Aerial and Acrobatic Adventure Tale,” combines heart stopping aerial routines, acrobatics and feats of agility with music and choreography for an exciting spectacle in the tradition of Cirque du Soleil on May 29, 2020. The season will conclude with “Jack Wright’s Tribute to Neal Diamond,” on June 7, 2020, playing the legendary singer’s greatest hits.
The Cabaret Jazz Series will be returning for its 21st season with an elegant supper-club experience and a lineup featuring four of the top jazz ensembles in the country. PVPA’s resident Chamber Orchestra of the South Bay will present five classical concerts beginning in October.
