Palos Verdes 2019 Half Marathon and 5K/10K Run
The Palos Verdes Half Marathon and 10K and 5K run will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019. The Palos Verdes Marathon, which is part of the Lexus LaceUp Running Series, is being presented by Saucony. Lexus is underwriting the costs of the event and will contribute funds raised to Kiwanis Club for their many scholarship programs.
The Half Marathon will start and finish above the scenic Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes. The course will follow the road through gorgeous residential neighborhoods with multi million dollar homes and along scenic coastal cliffs with spectacular ocean views and Catalina Island. The course is known for its hills and for some it is a challenge. However, once you finish, you will have plenty to celebrate with a craft beer and brunch or enjoy free massages overlooking spectacular sea cliffs. The course runs south on Palos Verdes Drive gradually uphill, before a turn near Wayfarers Chapel. Runners will pass Pelican Cove and the iconic Point Vicente Lighthouse, before turning left onto Calle Entradero. It will continue on past beautiful Palos Verdes homes and return to Palos Verdes Drive. Runners will then turn left on Via Pacheco before reaching the highest point on the course. From here, racers will drop onto Paseo del Mar and run right next to the ocean and past Lunada Bay, a well-known surf spot. Runners will then turn around near Bluff Cove before heading back toward the finish at Pelican Cove Park.
The Palos Verdes 10K and 5K enjoy the same idyllic scenery as the Half Marathon. As there are only 1,800 runners allowed to join the race, this is the most intimate and exclusive of the LaceUp series. This is the eighth time in 53 years of staging the marathon in Palos Verdes that there will only be a half marathon offered.
The Half Marathon and 10K will start at 7:00 a.m. and the 5K will start at 7:05 a.m. To register for the event, go to laceuprunningseries.com. Tickets purchased from now till October 10th 2019, are $45 for the 5K, $70 for the 10K and the half marathon is $100. Registration this year will close on Friday, November 15, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. or when the event sells out. (Previously in the last 3 years the event has sold out prior to closing date) There is no on-site registration. Race packets can be picked up on Friday, November 15, 2019, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. at Village Runner located at 1811-A, Catalina Avenue, Redondo Beach. There will be race day packet pick up at the start line one hour prior to start time and packet pick up will close 30 minutes before each race.
Event parking is provided at three different off-site locations for race participants and event attendees – Point Vicente Interpretive Center, the Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall and the Salvation Army property. There is no parking this year at Golden Cove Shopping Center. Parking areas will open at 5:00 a.m. and close by 2:00 p.m.
