Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Events August 2021

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy is opening its trails for all to enjoy. This is also a great time to look into volunteer opportunities to help maintain the beauty of our wonderful Peninsula.

Special Activities

Virtual Family Nature Club will take place on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 9:00 a.m.  You can join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy as they fly into the exciting topic of birds. Learn about local birds on the Peninsula, how to be a birdwatcher, and enjoy a fun bird craft. To sign up click here.

Nature Walk at Vicente Bluffs Reserve will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. This is an opportunity to follow trained guides along the bluff top from Point Vicente to Oceanfront Estates while the El Segundo blue butterfly is in its flight season in this area. This walk is considered easy and you can sign up at https://pvplc.org.

Volunteer Activities

Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point Nature Preserve will take place on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  They will be removing invasive grasses to restore the natural lands on the Peninsula. Sign up at  www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com. White Point Nature Center is located at 1600 W. Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve will take place on Saturdays, August 14th & August 28th, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This is an opportunity to help at the newest restoration site on this breathtaking coastal reserve by assisting in rhw eradication of invasive weeds. Sign up at  www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com. Abalone Cove Reserve is located at 5970 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes.

Trail Crew Training at Ladera Linda Community Center will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This is an indoor introductory class to learn more about how you can help improve Peninsula trails. Following this course, you can join field classes that are held every 2nd Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon that focus on various techniques for erosion repair, building rock walls, proper pruning and more. No experience is needed and is for ages 18 and over. Sign up at  www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve will take place on Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This is a great opportunity to help restore the local habitat in this area.  Sign up at  www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com. Alta Vicente Reserve is located at 31290 Palos Verdes Drive West, Rancho Palos Verdes.

Rapid Response Team will take place on Fridays & Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. You will work alongside conservancy staff protecting important wildlife habitat by closing unauthorized trails. The tasks include trail maintenance, building fences, installing signage and more. They will be working at various locations and you can volunteer by going to  www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com.
