Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Events April 2022

Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy continues to open its trails for all to enjoy. This is also a great time to consider volunteer opportunities to help maintain the beauty of our wonderful Peninsula.

Special Activities

Earth Day Celebration at the White Point Nature Preserve with the Palos Verdes Land Conservancy will take place on April 23, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. You can celebrate Earth Day while volunteering outdoors to help care for a native plant demonstration garden and habitat for local wildlife. This is a fun event for the whole family. The White Point Nature Preserve is located at 1600 Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro. Sign up at  www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com.

Nature Walk at George F Canyon will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. and will be guided by a trained naturalist.  You will discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat while enjoying amazing views of the LA Basin. You meet on the back patio of the George F Canyon Nature Center at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates. No RSVP is required.  

Nature Walk at Linden H. Chandler Preserve will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. You will get to experience the 28 acre nature preserve with native plants blooming in restored habitat to serve as home for the rare Palos Verdes blue butterfly. Volunteer Training’s

Team Leader Training will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. You will be joining their team leaders to help lead Outdoor Volunteer Days. You can gain leadership experience while enjoying nature and caring for critical wildlife habitat. You must be 16 years or older. Sign up at  www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com.

Weed Warrior Training will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. You can become a part of a group of “warriors” who eradicate invasive weeds to make way for native species to be planted to improve the health and beauty of the natural lands on the Peninsula. Volunteer Activities

Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point Nature Preserve will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Make a difference by helping the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy remove invasive grasses to enable rare coastal sage scrub habitat to thrive as a home to local native plants and wildlife. Sign up at  www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com.  White Point Nature Preserve is located at 1600 W. Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. You will volunteer at the newest restoration site located on a breathtaking coastal reserve and help eradicate invasive weeds to protect native species. Sign up at  www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com. Abalone Cove Reserve is located at 5970 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes.

Rapid Response Team will take place on Fridays & Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. You will work alongside conservancy staff protecting important wildlife habitat by closing unauthorized trails. The tasks include trail maintenance, building fences, installing signage, and more. No experience is needed and volunteers can be 15 years of age and up. You will be working at various locations and can volunteer by going to  www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com.
