Experience A Tide Pool Hike At Abalone Cove Shoreline Park In 2022!

Our wonderful Palos Verdes tide pools offer an amazing and enjoyable visit no matter how many times you have been there.  You will love the magic of seeing all the creatures living in the pools and each visit seems to add something new.

On Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., the Los Serenos de Point Vicente docents will be offering a free Tide Pool Hike starting at Abalone Cove Shoreline Park.   This park features two beaches – Abalone Cove and Sacred Cove.  These hikes are a great time to enjoy the outdoors with experts who will be discussing a variety of topics such as Palos Verdes Peninsula history, its geology, plant and animal life, as well as marine mammals.  As you tour the tide pools and watch the fascinating marine life, you will learn about the inhabitants – sea stars, sea anemones, hermit crabs, and many more interesting animals.  This park is considered an Ecological Reserve; therefore, none of its inhabitants can be removed.

The hike is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m., when the tide is low enough to view the marine life.  This hike is considered a moderate to strenuous hike and you should wear sturdy shoes as part of the hike will be on cobble stones.

Parking is available at Abalone Cove Shoreline Park located at 5970 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes.  There are no fees for the hike, but parking fees are free for the first 30 minutes, and $6.00 for up to 2 hours.  For more information go to www.LosSeranos.org, or call (310) 377-5370.
