Palos Verdes homes owners have an opportunity for their young children to get acquainted with local ponies. There are several different pony camps offered here on the Peninsula for children 3-5 years of age and you may want to consider a private camp. The Peter Weber Equestrian Center offers young kids the opportunity to learn safety around horses. They will learn how to hand walk or lead a horse, and how to brush and pick hooves. The class will also teach them about the different horse breeds, colors, anatomy, different types of equipment and tack. They also get to spend time with all of the ranch animals.
The riding program has each child escorted by an instructor. They will learn to walk, stop, backup and steer the horse, and feel comfortable sitting on a horse.
The one day camp goes from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at a cost of $130/day.
The Peter Weber Equestrian Center is located at 26401 Crenshaw Blvd., Rolling Hills Estates.
