Palos Verdes home owners have some great presentations in the August 2024 Peninsula Seniors Bohannon Lectures Series. These Lectures take place at Scriba Family Center located at 602 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates, with in-person lectures beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the following Wednesdays:
August 7 – “The Last Voyage of the Whaling Ship Essex” will be presented by local historian Jim Shneer as he recounts this true survival story that was a significant inspiration for Moby Dick. You will learn about the voyage and the evidence of its influence on Melville.
August 14 – “Winging It with Bob Shanman” will be presented by the former owner of Wild Birds Unlimited in Redondo Beach. Bob Shanman presents an interactive talk on the glorious world of birds, and the best places to go birding in the South Bay.
August 21 & 28th – “Art Appreciation – Impressionism” will be presented in a two lecture program by Ann and Lee Strong. These lectures will be about the Impressionist Art movement of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
