Palos Verdes homeowners have some great presentations in the November 2024 Peninsula Seniors Bohannon Lectures Series. These Lectures take place at Scriba Family Center located at 602 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates, with in-person lectures beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the following Wednesdays:
November 6 – “AltaSea – Ocean-Related Science and Industry” will be presented by Michelle Raymond of AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles. She will be discussing the world’s largest ocean research and development destination for the Blue Economy in a 35 acre campus. The organization’s mission is to create scientific solutions to further economic growth while preserving the ocean’s ecosystem and preparing students for future careers in ocean science, technology, and related business.
November 13 – “The U.S. Space Force” will be presented by Lt. Col. Daniel Groller, Chief of Staff for Space Sensing, Space Systems Command. He will be discussing the space service branch of the United States Armed Forces, its mission in “securing our nation’s interest in, from, and to space,” and future security challenges.
November 20 – “Art Appreciation – Post Impressionism” will be presented by Peninsula Seniors volunteer instructors Ann & Lee Strong. They will be presenting a lecture on the Post-Impression Art movement of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They examine the origins of the movement, its most prominent artists (Cezanne, Van Gogh, Seurat) and the most important art works of the time.
November 27 – Happy Thanksgiving! No Lecture and the Scriba Family Center will be closing at noon.
On Saturday, November 2, 2024, Coffee & Cars will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the top parking deck of the Promenade Mall. On the first Saturday of every month, a group of car enthusiasts will bring their Hot Rod, Custom, Muscle Car, Sports Car, Antique, and other special interest vehicles to this location where you can admire the cars, meet the owners and ask them questions. To reach the top parking deck, enter from Indian Peak Road at the Peninsula Shopping Center off Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Boulevard in Rolling Hills Estates.
