Palos Verdes residents looking for local holiday activities near the Peninsula have two more fun events for families to enjoy.
On Saturday, December 14, 2024, the local annual Holiday Boat Parade will take place in Redondo Beach at King Harbor. Paddle craft boaters will be kicking off the parade at 4:30 p.m. with their decorated and lighted boards, followed by power and sail boats all decked out for the main boat parade at 5:30 p.m. Trophy presentations will take place at 8:30 p.m. Each year there is a theme for the parade and this year’s theme is “A Tropical Holiday.” The best viewing area is reported to be at Moonstone Park, 280 Marina Way in Redondo Beach.

A great family activity during the holiday season is viewing the lights in Sleepy Hollow (a.k.a. Candy Cane Lane). Tucked away in a South Torrance neighborhood is one of the most spectacular displays of Christmas lights in the South Bay (and possibly in the country) which can be viewed now through January 1, 2025. You can walk or drive through Candy Cane Lane and get in the holiday spirit. Sleepy Hollow Christmas Lights is located on Roberts Road off Pacific Coast Highway from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. every night until New Year’s Eve. Walking through the area is a much more relaxed, up-close view of the displays without all the traffic. You can skip the traffic by parking on Pacific Coast Highway, Calle Mayor or Prospect and walk to Roberts Road, just west of Calle Mayor. It’s best to go early in the month as the crowds are bigger between Christmas and New Years.
