Palos Verdes residents who have children entering Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten in the Fall of 2025 should plan on attending the Parent Information Meetings for Kindergarten & Transitional Kindergarten aged children. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District recommends that parents join the meetings even if they have had other children go through the system because the program has changed.
California Law regarding the age requirement for Kindergarten enrollment was changed. The law now requires a child be five years old on or before September 1, 2025, to be eligible for Kindergarten. To enroll in Transitional Kindergarten (which is a separate program), children who will be turning 5 years of age on/or between September 2, 2025, and June 2, 2025, will be automatically enrolled in the TK program.
These in person meetings will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, for TK children from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. The Kindergarten parent information meeting will also take place on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Each elementary school will be hosting a meeting on that day.
