Palos Verdes Library District October 2023!

The Palos Verdes Library District is offering a variety of adventures to start your year off for visitors of all ages in the month of March. Below are just a few of the great activities:

Calling for Entries for the Student Art Show Contest. This program is open until March 27, 2026, and the art show reception will take place on March 19, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library.

Living History Museum of African American Heroes will take place on March 8, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Peninsula Library. Who will YOU meet… at the Living History Museum of African American Heroes? Join the young presenters who portray their heroes from African American history! Learn about well known and lesser known leaders, scientists, artists, and civil rights leaders as the children demonstrate the impact their heroes have had on the lives of all Americans. To learn about how your child in TK – 8th grade can portray a hero at this event, contact Laura Henry at lhenry@pvld.org.

Mario Party will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Library.

QI GONG will be presented on Monday’s in March from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. This program is to help release tension, promote healing and strengthen our immune systems. This program is low impact and helps with mind and body practice.

Lets Talk Music! A listen and discuss program of select albums and artists. This enjoyable group will meet on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library – Purcell Room.

Friday Fun:  Learn about the fun events taking place this month. Start the weekend off right at the library. This weekly program is aimed at grades TK – 5th grade but all ages are welcome. Friday Fun takes place on March 6 – with Purim Masks, March 13 – with Mario Party,  March 20 – with Self Portraits and March 27, 2026, with Springtime Critter Crafts. These delightful events take place at the Peninsula Center Library – Storytime Room from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tech Knows will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Malaga Cove Library Community Room.

PV Reads “Beneath a Scarlet Sky” by author Mark Sullivan on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Library – Mezzanine Landing.

Passport Fair will take place on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Peninsula Library. Please contact the library to schedule an appointment and upload the questionnaire.

Spanish Storytime will take place on the third Wednesday of the month from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Peninsula Center Library Storytime Room. This month it will be on March 18, 2026.

Unraveled: Fiber Arts Circle will take place on Mondays, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Bring your projects and join in for a morning of stitches and chit chat. All fiber arts and skill levels are welcome. This pleasant circle gets together at the Miraleste Library.

Monthly Movie will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. The movie this month will be “The Philadelphia Story” (1940).

Book Clubs

Malaga Cove Book Club will get together on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. They will be discussing “ASTOR: The Rise and Fall of An American Fortune” by Anderson Cooper & Katherine Howe.
Miraleste Book Club will meet on the second Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. They will be reading “The Spy in the Moscow Station” by Eric Haseltine.
Edith Wharton Book Club will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Join the group as they read novels by the great American author of the gilded age.  Edith Wharton, Pulitzer Prize-winning American novelist and short story writer known for her sharp social commentary and depictions of upper-class life at the turn of the 20th century. This week will be “The Custom of Country.
