A Canyon Night Hike will take place at George F. Canyon on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 8:30 p.m. Reservations are required and there is a limit of 20 participants for this two mile round trip hike with fantastic city lights views.

Palos Verdes Nature Preserve Ranger Hotline (310-491-5775) is now taking calls regarding misuse of lands in the preserve and to get information on activities taking place in this area.

Summer Concerts In The Park 2012 Malaga Cove series begins July 11th and continues every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. through August 29th and will include Chelsea Williams, Tin Drum, Mighty Mo Rogers, Bad Haggis, David Benoit & Family, Jim Sitterly Trio, Orange Colored Sky an Cody Bryant.

Fourth of July fireworks can be seen from Palos Verdes and other South Bay locations. There will be fireworks at 9:00 p.m. off Torrance Beach, Redondo Beach's Seaside Lagoon and San Pedro's Cabrillo Beach.

Fresh & easy grocery store opened in the Lunada Bay commercial center in Palos Verdes Estates 90274. The store will be open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and will offer their trademark grab-and-go prepared meals as well as a full selection of spices, meats and produce.

2012 Palos Verdes Fourth of July celebrations will be held in Palos Verdes Estates at Malaga Cove School beginning at 9:30 a.m. and in Rancho Palos Verdes at the Civic Center beginning at 11:00 a.m.

A Palos Verdes summer concert will be held on June 21, 2012 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Lunada Bay Park and will feature Chaussee's Big Band. This is sponsored by PVE-CARES.

Palos Verdes beaches have received a grade of A & A+ by Heal the Bay and are on their 2011-2012 Honor Roll. Heal the Bay has been working since 1990 to ensure beach goers in Los Angeles County are aware of the beaches that have the lowest level of pollution.

Palos Verdes children's summer camps for 2012 are offered through Peninsula Sports Camps, PV Rugby Summer Camp, Peninsula Bay Cities Day Camp and Swim School and Palos Verdes Art Center.

Both Palos Verdes High Schools rank in the top 100 California schools in the US News & World report and The Washington Post report. Palos Verdes Peninsula High School ranked #23 and #24 respectively. Palos Verdes High School ranked #53 and #61 respectively.
