The Palos Verdes Nature Preserve Hotline – Palos Verdes Important Facts

After many years of neighborly concern, The Palos Verdes Nature Reserve Hotline is now in operation to help Palos Verdes homes owners be more involved with the Nature Preserve.  The adage “it takes a village” is true.  The Palos Verdes Nature Preserve Ranger Hotline is available 24 hours a day – seven days a week.  You can use it to report misuse of our preserve or to get access to current information on different activities that will be taking place in the area.

The callers will be speaking to a hot line operator who will take all questions and concerns and then forward them to the appropriate representative.  This could be the Mountain Recreation and Conservation Authority Rangers or, if appropriate, the Lomita Sheriff’s Station, California Department of Fish and Game, Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy or even the City Hall Staff.

Currently, the rangers patrol the city’s 1,400 acre preserve an average of 45 hours per week.  They not only educate the public but also help to enforce all the city ordinances.  The new Ranger Hotline program will increase the city’s awareness of activity taking place in the preserve.

To reach The Palos Verdes Nature Preserve Ranger Hotline, call (310) 491-5775.

365 Things To Do In Palos Verdes – Where is Miltenburger Park?

Miltenburger Park, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275

Do you know where Miltenburger Park is located?  I had never heard of it and when I went searching to take this photo, I realized I had driven by it many times without realizing it.  It is located on the upper hillside of Palos Verdes Drive East, across the street from the Miraleste Auto Center (at Miraleste Plaza) in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Years ago, Val E. Miltenburger helped form the Miraleste Park District and served on its board until 1943.  The board so appreciated his efforts, the Miraleste Park District created and named a park in his honor.  When the park was originally dedicated the area had a watering system and was beautifully landscaped with annual native flowers.  After years of inattention, it is one of the areas on the Peninsula that is targeted for restoration when funds become available.
