The Hills Are Alive Race - 10K and 5K - will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Ernie Howlett Park in Rolling Hills Estates and will benefit The Pepper Tree Foundation.

Palos Verdes Bird Walk and First Saturday Canyon Walk will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Geroge F. Canyon Preserve & Nature Center at 7306 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates.

More Palos Verdes Summer Concerts will be held at Nelson's at Terranea Resort from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights as part of a picnic buffet priced from $19 to $26. The series will run Friday and Saturday nights through September 2, 2012.

A Palos Verdes night hike will take place on Friday, August 3,2012, at 8:30 p.m. at George F Canyon. Reservations are required and the fee is $10 per person.

Palos Verdes Coffee & Cars, a free event held in the Peninsula Shopping Center parking lot, will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 7:30 and is an opportunity for car enthusiasts to bring their cars or just come to view special cars on display.

On July 28, 2012, the Banning Museum is presenting a lecture by Tom Sitton, author of "Grand Ventures: The Banning Family And The Shaping Of Southern California," speaking on the second generation and their ownership of Santa Catalina Island from 1892 to 1919.

South Coast Botanic Garden is looking for volunteers and are holding an information session on July 17, 2010, from 3:00 to 4:00 in Classroom B at the South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes Peninsula 90274.

Jazz Through The Generations will be held a Terranea Resort on July 22, 2012, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. to benefit Freedom 4U and featuring The Paul Smith Trio, Barbara Morrison, The Molly Miller Band, Freedom Youth Combo, The Sara Gazarek Band and the Asia America Youth Orchestra.

Summer Concerts In The Park 2012 Lunada Bay series will be held on the following 3 Thursdays: July 12th, July 26th and August 9th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will include The Northstar Session, Prima Divas and the Kanan Road Band.

In Palos Verdes, the Promenade on the Peninsula is offering a full slate of activities during the summer - Art Center Art-Rageous Art Camp, movie discounts at Regal Cinema, Youth Theater & Music Showcase, Ice Chalet discounted skating times, Young Writers Workshop, and the Promenade Fountain.
