Again this year, the City of Rancho Palos Verdes in cooperation with the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, invites children from 7 to 12 years of age to join the Junior Ranger Program.  Palos Verdes homes owners can encourage their children to consider how they leaving their “footprints on this earth” and take more interest in their own local community.   The program will teach them about our local trails, the wildlife and outdoor preparedness to enable them to have basic trail etiquette and safety practices here on the Peninsula.

Orientation for the Junior Ranger Program is on March 8th or 9th, 2014, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m at the Ladera Linda Community Center, located at 32201 Forrestal Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes, 90275.   Participants must attend one of these sessions with their parents in order to participate in the program.  The program will run through May with sessions including trail tacking & bird watching, tide pools, wildfires & nature, geology and night hikes.  In June, if the child has completed a minimum of three sessions, plus the introduction class and the Nature Journal, they will be recognized at the graduation ceremony.  This program is free for all participants.

It is recommended that you pre-register for the program as soon as possible since enrollment is limited.  To register contact the Rancho Palos Verdes Recreation Office at (310) 544-5260, or go to www.palosverdes.com/rpv.
