Cabrillo Marine Aquarium Native Garden Workday & 2016 Holiday Preview!
The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is looking for volunteers to help maintain the Cabrillo Native Garden on the first Saturday of each month. Since 1935, the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium has provided visitors from around the country, and our own local students an amazing natural and interactive approach to marine science education. Palos Verdes homes owners have a great opportunity to join our Peninsula neighbors and learn more about the Aquarium and its plant and animal inhabitants.
On Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the education staff and volunteers at the Cabrillo Native Garden will open their doors for residents to participate not only in the Garden operations, but also join others at the beach to clear the shore of marine debris. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy and Heal the Bay have specific clean up days during the year, but Cabrillo Marine Aquarium needs to keep its local waters in good shape all year long to continue the success of the aquarium. This is a great opportunity for community service; they recommend that you make reservations by Thursday, November 3, 2016, at (310) 548-7562. Parking is free in the lot; then meet at the steps in front of the Aquarium.
Also on Saturday and Sunday, November 5 & 6, 2016, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium will be having their 8th Annual Holiday Preview from 10:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. You can get ahead of the Christmas rush and purchase the great ornaments that they will be displaying on Christmas trees with a beach/aquatic theme. In addition to Christmas themed items there, will also be Hanukkah ornaments for purchase. The gift purchases benefit the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and help to fund the educational programs.
