Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy Events January 2022
Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy is in the process of opening its trails for everyone to enjoy after all the recent rains. This is a great time to consider volunteer opportunities to help maintain the beauty of our wonderful Peninsula.
Special Activities:
Nature Walk at McBride Trail will take place on Saturday, January 8th, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. You will walk a rimmed canyon trail with panoramic views over the 191-acre Filiorum Reserve out to Catalina and beyond. The MLK Day of Service will take place on Monday, January 17, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Celebrate MLK Jr. Day with by giving back! You will help care for the White Point Native Plant Demonstration Garden by planting native shrubs, removing invasive weeds, watering native plants and more! Virtual Family Nature Club will be discussing Wildlife in Winter on January 29, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. You can join the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy for the next Virtual Family Nature Club as they explore the topic of wildlife in winter! You will learn about the special adaptations animals have that help them survive in the winter and you will be able to create a fun craft. Volunteer Activities
Outdoor Volunteer Day at Abalone Cove Reserve will take place on Saturday, January 8th, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. You can volunteer at this newest restoration site which is on a breathtaking coastal reserve and help eradicate invasive weeds which will protect native species. Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve will take place on Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. You will be helping to restore habitat on the 22-acre restoration site (with beautiful views of Catalina) to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnatcatchers. Outdoor Volunteer Day at White Point Nature Preserve will take place on Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This is a great opportunity to get outdoors and make a difference by helping the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy remove invasive grasses to enable rare coastal sage scrub habitat to thrive as a home of local native plants and wildlife. PVP Land Conservancy Rapid Response Team on Fridays and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Work alongside the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy staff around the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve to help protect important wildlife habitat. Help with trail maintenance, fence building, installing signage and more! No experience needed. Volunteers need to be 15 years old and up. Sign up at: https://pvplc.volunteerhub.com/
