The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy is looking for volunteers like you to help restore and maintain the beauty of Palos Verdes trails and preserves. Today in the Special Events area, the Native Plant Nursery will be selling plants, Nature & Me Storytime is back, Linden H. Chandler Preserve will be open for a hike, and in Volunteer Activities you can find a special Mother’s Day Volunteer Event at White Point Nature Preserve.
Special Events
Mom would love to get a Spring Butterfly Basket with Native Wildflowers from the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy’s Native Plant Nursery to make your garden beautiful, drought tolerant and to attract pollinators looking for food & nesting places and as a way station for many species. Nature & Me Storytime at George F canyon Nature Center will take place on Friday, May 12th, 2023, at 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Join the Palos Verdes Library District for stories, songs and rhymes at George F Canyon Nature Center. Recommended for ages 2 to 5. No reservations required.
Guided Nature Walk at Linden H. Candler Preserve will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. You can experience this 28 acre nature preserve with blooming native plants. This restored habitat is home to the endangered Palos Verdes blue butterfly. This is considered a moderate walk. Sign up at pvplc.org/calendar.
Special Mother’s Day Volunteer Event at White Point Nature Preserve will take place on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at 9 a.m. Let mom sleep in or join the rest of the family planting native wildflowers, removing invasive weeds, watering native plants, grooming trails, and more. Special Activities
Guided Nature Walk at the George F Canyon Nature Preserve will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. You be guided by a trained naturalist and discover a unique variety of wildlife in their canyon habitat while enjoying amazing view of the LA Basin. Meet outside on the back deck of the George F Canyon Nature Center. Park in the Preserve lot located at 27305 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates. No RSVP is required.
Guided Nature Walk at the White Point Nature Preserve will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Naturalists will guide you along a trail (with amazing views across the ocean) to discover a unique variety of wildlife in their coastal sage scrub habitat. Meet in front of the Nature Center and come inside to explore after the hike. Parking is in the lot at the dead end of 1600 Paseo del Mar, San Pedro. No reservations are required. Preserve parking also available in a gravel lot also at 1600 West Paseo del Mar, San Pedro.
Volunteer Activities
Outdoor Volunteer Day will take place at Abalone Cove on Saturday’s May 6th and May 20, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. You can help the conservancy by volunteering on a breathtaking coastal reserve and helping restore wildlife habitat. Students can receive community service hours. Outdoor Volunteer Day at Alta Vicente Reserve will take place on Saturday May 13, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Come help restore habitat on the 22 acre restoration site to create a home for rare cactus wrens and gnat catchers with beautiful views of Catalina Island. Sign up at www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com.

Outdoor Volunteer Day at Chandler Preserve will take place on Sunday, May 21st, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. They will be working to remove invasive weeds which degrade important wildlife habitat in native areas. Sign up at www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com.
Rapid Response Team will take place on Fridays & Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. You will work alongside Conservancy staff protecting important wildlife habitat by closing unauthorized trails. The tasks include trail maintenance, building fences, installing signage, and more. No experience is needed and volunteers must be 15 years of age and up. You will be working at various locations and can volunteer by going to www.pvplc.volunteerhub.com.
