The Palos Verdes Peninsula 4-H Club is a great opportunity for children of Palos Verdes residents that are interested in learning about citizenship, leadership and other life skills to join Palos Verdes all cities 4-H Club. The first sign up to join will take place on September 20, 2023, at the City of Rolling Hills Estates City Hall, with meetings starting in October. Youth between the ages of 7 and 19 will have hands-on learning experiences with different projects including pets and small animals, horses, dog care, beekeeping, poultry, marine biology, wildlife, surfing, photography and much more. This is a great participation program where parents can also volunteer to help our young leaders of tomorrow.
The program begins at the community level and then introduces the members to the county, state and national levels of leadership. The official 4-H program year begins July 1st and ends the following June 30th, however, operationally most clubs begin the program year activities in September and culminate in September with the Los Angeles County Fair, where many members show their livestock and display their projects. There is also a Spring Fair in April where members can participate in project presentations and livestock showmanship. Throughout the year, the club is involved in several community service projects such as visiting the elderly and serving Christmas Eve/Day dinner to the needy during the holidays. There is a nominal fee ($175) per youth enrollment via check. The Club will meet every third Wednesday of the month at the City of Rolling Hills Estates City Hall. Meeting time is 7:00 p.m. and recreation begins at 6:45 p.m., with meetings usually lasting about 1 hour. You can register online, and complete waiver forms and code of conduct forms needed.
