Peninsula Seniors Present Bohannon Lecture Series & Coffee and Cars September 2024

Palos Verdes home owners have some great presentations in the September 2024 Peninsula Seniors Bohannon Lectures Series.  These Lectures take place at Scriba Family Center located at 602 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates, with in-person lectures beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the following Wednesdays:

September 4 – “Palos Verdes Goes Hollywood” will be presented by Palos Verdes Library District archivist, Tennessee Gardner, who will delve into the rich history of film on the Peninsula. She will discuss notable films and TV productions, and prominent directors and producers utilizing Palos Verdes’ backdrop for film classics to modern works.

September 11 – “Identifying Valuable Coins and Other Treasures” will be presented by coin experts from the Palos Verdes Coin Exchange who will discuss the world of rare coin collecting from famous early shipwreck treasure to modern day finds in the attic, and what your jar of old coins could be worth.

September 18 – “Native Plants in Your Zip Code” will be presented by Cathy Zyetz, member of the South Coast CA Native Plant Society, who will be sharing how CA native plants could be part of your garden landscape design, and the best places to find these natural beauties in our area.

September 25 – “Revisiting Paddy Hirsch” who was born in England; served as an officer in the Royal Marines; interned at the BBC; was an NPR news reporter; authored a book explaining how Wall Street works; is a fiction writer of thrilling novels; and now will discuss his latest endeavors in media and journalism.

On Saturday, September 7, 2024, Coffee & Cars will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., on the top parking deck of the Promenade Mall. On the first Saturday of every month, a group of car enthusiasts will bring their Hot Rod, Custom, Muscle Car, Sports Car, Antique, and other special interest vehicles to this location where you can admire the cars, meet the owners and ask them questions. To reach the top parking deck, enter from Indian Peak Road at the Peninsula Shopping Center, off Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Boulevard in Rolling Hills Estates.
