Peninsula Seniors Present Bohannon Lecture Series & Coffee and Cars February 2025

Palos Verdes homeowners have some great presentations in the February 2025 Peninsula Seniors Bohannon Lectures Series.  These Lectures take place at Scriba Family Center located at 602 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates, with in-person lectures beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the following Wednesdays:

February 5 – “Shot Down – The True Story” will be told by author Steve Snyder, president of the 30th Bomb Group Historical Association. Here he will discuss the World War II experiences of his father, pilot Howard Snyder and the crew of the B-17 Susan Ruth, resulting in his award-winning book, “Shot Down.”

February 12 – “Haunted San Pedro” will be presented by author, historian, Brian Clune for Planet Paranormal Investigations, and paranormal researcher for movies and TV. Brian retells stories in his book “Haunted San Pedro,” and talks about his other paranormal research books about the LA area.

February 19 – “Understanding 20th Century Modern Art – Part 2” will be presented by member instructors Ann and Lee Strong with a lecture on the elements of 20th century Modern Art. The works of Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock, William de Kooning, and the most important works of the first half of the century will be highlighted.

February 26 – “Museum Battleship Iowa Update” will be presented by Capt. Rich Abele, USN (Ret), senior tour guide on the Battleship Iowa. He will update the current status of the ship and future plans for the National Museum of the Surface Navy.

On Saturday, February 1, 2025, Coffee & Cars will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the top parking deck of the Promenade Mall. On the first Saturday of every month, a group of car enthusiasts will bring their Hot Rod, Custom, Muscle Car, Sports Car, Antique, and other special interest vehicles to this location where you can admire the cars, meet the owners and ask them questions. To reach the top parking deck, enter from Indian Peak Road at the Peninsula Shopping Center off Silver Spur Road and Hawthorne Boulevard in Rolling Hills Estates.
