Turtle and Tortoise Day will be held at the Madrona Marsh Nature Center in Torrance on Saturday, October 13, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to learn more about these reptiles and maybe even adopt one!

Palos Verdes Peninsula Seniors lecture Series for October will present four different topics on Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Hesse Park Fireside Room in Rancho Palos Verdes 90275.

Palos Verdes Bird Walk and First Saturday Canyon Walk will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at George F. Canyon Preserve & Nature Center at 7306 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rolling Hills Estates.

White Point Nature Preserve will host the Home Tour and Reception on October 14, 2012, from 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m., featuring seven San Pedro homes of different artistic, architectural or historic significance.

The 2012 Palos Verdes Peninsula Music Fair will be held on October 7 (from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) at Chadwick School, located at 26800 Academy Drive, Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Locally, White Point Nature Preserve will be celebrating National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 29, 2012, from 9:00 a..m. to 12:00 noon giving us an opportunity to volunteer to help beautify the Demonstration Garden and surrounding habitat areas.

Palos Verdes Concours Pleasure Road Rallye was held on Saturday, September 15, 2012, and was such fun - we wound our way through the Peninsula in just under three hours identifying 48 different locations and ending at the Palos Verdes Country Club for the Grand Marshalls' Reception.

The Palos Verdes Neighborhood Safety & Emergency Preparedness Fair will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Palos Verdes Estates City Hall and will include speakers, Build Your Own Emergency Bag and other great programs sharing information.

The 55th Annual Rolling Hills Estates City Celebration will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Empty Saddle Club and will include equestrian events, hay wagon rides, petting zoo, watermelon eating contest, the Annual Poker Ride, a barbecue lunch and more.

Palos Verdes beach clean up is on September 15, 2012, as part of Heal the Bay Coastal Clean-Up Day. Also, help monitor the Japan tsunami debris landing at Malaga Cove during the next few months.
