Palos Verdes New Salvation Army Trail Now Open!
Palos Verdes new Salvation Army Trail has finally opened offering a pedestrian and equestrian friendly trail here on the Peninsula. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes has been working on this Conceptual Trail Plan (CTP) which brings a continuous trail along the landward side of Palos Verdes Drive South beginning at the Golden Cove Shopping Center and extending eastward through Point Vincente Park, the Salvation Army property and ending at the Three Sisters Reserve. The completion of this trail closes the gap that previously existed and completes this important public trail corridor.
The new trail segment is over 2,200 feet in length and has magnificent views of Rancho Palos Verdes coastline and Catalina Island. This trail allows users to go from the trails around City Hall to the core of the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve, and also allows the public and guests staying at the Terranea Resort to traverse from the coastal trails on the resort to the Preserve areas to the northwest or around Portuguese Bend to the northeast.
This is a great addition to the City of Rancho Palos Verdes 1989 Parks Master Plan. This plan was implemented to provide strategies on the future use of city parks, recreation and open space resources, this while keeping in line with the Coast Vision Plan.
