Palos Verdes residents are invited to the County of Los Angeles’ drive-thru Household Hazardous Waste/Electronic Waste Roundup Event on April 29, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event will take place in the City Yard at Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall and is open to all LA County residents.
This local roundup will be taking old paint (water or oil based), used motor oil and filters, automotive fluids, anti-freeze, pool chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, expired medicine, used sharps (needles to be placed in a secure and sealed container), batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs. You are being asked to leave them in your trunk or trunk bed. Event staff will only remove household hazardous and electronic waste from your trunk or truck bed, but to dispose of sharps you will be required to exit your vehicle and dispose of them in the designed area.
You will be also able to bring your E-waste products to this event. Electronic waste (E-waste) is said to be the most rapidly growing segment of the municipal waste stream. E-waste is a general category of electronic products which include broken or obsolete televisions, computer monitors, central processing units (CPU), cordless and cell phones, cash registers, videocassette recorders, cell phones, copiers and printers, stereos and speakers, and microwaves. These type of products may contain toxic materials such as lead, barium, mercury, and cadmium that require the proper management as well as valuable resources that should be recovered.
Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall is located at 30940 Hawthorne Boulevard, Rancho Palos Verdes.
Additionally throughout the year, the S.A.F.E. Collection site (household hazardous waste) is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 1400 N. Gaffey Street, San Pedro.
