Spring Festival in Palos Verdes to celebrate Chinese New Year will take place on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Promenade on the Peninsula from 11 - 5 p.m. The event will have children's games, raffles, food & cooking classes and six hours of entertainment.

Fun things to do this weekend in Palos Verdes include volunteering at the White Point Nature Preserve on Saturday, 2/23/2013, from 9-12p.m., or Story Time with the Rangers at the preserve from 10-12p.m. On Sunday, 2/24/2013, join the full moon hike at the George F. Canyon Preserve.

Cherry Blossom in Palos Verdes can be seen at the South Coast Botanic Garden. They are just starting to bloom at the garden. Cherry Blossom Picnic Day will be held on March 2, 2013, from 9-5.

Palos Verdes Junior Ranger Program is being offered to children from 7 to 12 years of age. This month's program begins on February 2, 2013, from 10:00-12:00 p.m. There will be five sessions and will culminate in a graduation ceremony.

The Wayfarers Chapel, also known as the Glass Chapel, was recognized by Fox News as being one of the top 12 most beautiful churches in America. Located in Rancho Palos Verdes, it offers a unique combination of architecture and nature adding to the beautiful surrounding gardens. Designed by Lloyd Wright in 1951.

Whale watching is back off the Palos Verdes coast with more than 517 whales being spotted to date this season. Point Vicente Interpretive Center is an excellent spot to view the whales from the land, and two local companies have boat excursions that you can book.

Palos Verdes Peninsula High School and Palos Verdes High School will be having opportunities for students and parents in Palos Verdes to assist in their selection of a high school for the 2013-2014 school year.
